Visa Gift Card Information
Visa gift cards are a simple and appreciated gift for all occasions. We have special designs that work well for graduations, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and holiday giving. Each card can be purchased for $2.
These cards are prepaid cards, not a credit card. They can be used anywhere that Visa debit cards are accepted. You'll find them convenient, secure, and easy to use at retail stores and on the internet. Members occasionally have questions about how to use these cards so we've put together the following information as a guide.
Before using a Visa Gift Card: Record you card number and keep it in a safe place in the event that your card my become lost or stolen, and sign the back of the card.
Check your balance: It is always a good idea to know the balance of your card before making a purchase. This information can be found on the web at https://www.consumercardaccess.com/cugift2 or call toll-free 866.833.2370.
To make purchases: Always know the available amount on the card. Let the cashier know that you would like to pay by credit. Your signature is required to make purchases. PIN based transaction are not available on these cards.
If your purchase is more then the remaining amount of the card: Let the cashier know that you you will be paying by two forms of payment. They will need to know the exact amount to be applied to the gift card, and that the remaining amount will be paid by cash, check, or other card. Please note: Some merchants will accept gift cards as a form of payment only if the value on the card is sufficient to cover the entire purchase.
Restricted transactions: Cash cannot be obtained from the card, either at an ATM or as a cash advance. Gas purchases must be made "inside" rather than "pay at the pump" outside. Reservations for hotel and car rental are not permitted. Restaurants and beauty services sometimes require a greater amount than the purchase to ensure that funds are available for a tip.
